National Model Railroad Month at Sequim Branch Library

This week at the Sequim Branch Library it was All Aboard to celebrate National Model Railroad Month! Children heard stories about trains, made a train craft, and had a chance to play with trains provided by the North Olympic Peninsula Railroad Club.

President of the club, Steve Stripp, was on hand to engage the children by describing each different train car and how it is used. Two of the books featured in the storytime conducted by Youth Librarian Antonia Krupicka-Smith were Train Song by Harriet Ziefert and And The Train Goes… by William Bee. Find them here: http://pac.nols.org/polaris/. Playing and talking during play are important components of the Public Library Association’s Every Child Ready to Read initiative which the North Olympic Library System supports and builds into all children’s programs. For more information about children’s programs at NOLS, go to the Youth page at www.nols.org.
