Staff picks: "The Other" by David Guterson
Title: The Other
Author: Guterson, David
Call Number: Guterso
Formats: Audio and Print
Set in the Pacific Northwest, David Guterson's The Other captures the essence of life in Seattle and the northwest wilderness over the past 20 years. This is the story of the friendship between John William Barry from one of Seattle’s elite families and Neil Countryman, a descendant of the working class. Despite the differences in background, a bond of friendship takes them from youth to middle age; from idealism to fanaticism. Neil’s biography of the “hermit of the Hoh” brings him fame and heartache as he recalls his friendship with his complex and brilliant friend.
